Busy Weekend 08/29

It was a pretty eventful weekend and it all started with Trish's mom flying into KC on Friday night. After picking her up at the airport we went to Applebee's for dinner, came back to the house and played with Madelyn for awhile and then headed off to bed. Saturday morning Trish got up early and let the dogs out for their morning potty break. For most people this probably doesn't sound like a big deal, but this was the first weekend day in some time that I didn't get woke up by two dogs jumping in and out of bed and walking on me. (Kind of a nice change of pace, I think I could get used to that.) Anyway, Trish finally got me up just as she was leaving to go to the hair salon. I woke Madelyn up and went downstairs and fed her and handed her off to MomMom so I could go upstairs and shower. Overall a really nice and pleasant morning. While Trish was at the hair salon her friend called to let us know about a standalone jumper she found at a garage sale for $15. We have a door jumper and had been going back and forth for some time as to whether or not we wanted a stand alone one. Anyway I ended up going out and picking that up, so now we have one of those as well. Madelyn really likes it and now she is not blocking the doorways. It seems as if every day the house becomes more and more overtaken by kids stuff. Finally, Trish made it home and much to my surprise and amazement, she was even more beautiful than when she left. She ended up taking off about 3 inches of her hair and was a little unsure about it, but it looked fantastic.

When Trish got home we headed off to Sam's Club for lunch and a little shopping. From there we headed over to Kohl's and did a little more shopping. I ended up going home early to feed Madelyn, but Trish and her Mom kept at it for another couple of hours. From what I saw when they got home they were extremely successful. Saturday evening Madelyn ate oatmeal cereal for the first time and tried out the jumper.

Sunday morning we went out to get breakfast at Perkins and then headed out to JCPenny outlet for a little more shopping. I think that between the two days, Trish and her Mom both were able to get all new wardrobes. After careful consideration, Trish's mom was even able to pick out a new back to school outfit. I guess today is her first day back to school with students.(Good luck hope all goes well.)
Finally, coming back from the dropping Trish’s mom off at the airport, we decided it would be fun to take Madelyn to the park behind our house. We didn't stay for very long maybe 15-20 minutes, but Madelyn had a blast! I am sure we will be going back. I have put a couple of pictures out from her first swing and sliding experience.

After we got home from the park we put Madelyn on her playmat and were doing some house chores. When we came back in the room we found that Madelyn would rather explore the underside of the rocking chair than play on her playmat. Can't say that I can blame her there is only so many times you can grab a toy or shake a rattle before it becomes a bit mundane.

I love the hair barrette! Can you believe how babies keep getting cuter and cuter as they grow?
