Jim and I had a little scare today. I had not felt the baby move since Wednesday but I was not all that worried about it until today. I got to work and got really sick and I have not gotten sick in a long time so we became a little alarmed. I called the doctor and left a message with the nurse. They immediately called back and said that everything was probably ok but since I had gotten sick and had not felt the baby move they wanted me to come right in to have a non-stress test. I got there and began the test. They hooked two round devices up to my stomach to monitor the baby's heartbeat, the baby's movement and any contractions if I was having them. The baby had a good heartbeat but was still not moving. The lady running the test starting using techniques to try and get her to move. They took a metal bed pan and spoon and banged them together, they pushed and moved around on my stomach, and they "pinned" the baby down. It was all a little wierd but she finally moved. I didn't feel her move but you could tell she moved by the noise the machine made and the increase in her heartrate. The test lasted 30+ minutes and when it was over the tech took the test results to the doctor to review. After the doctor reviewed the results they decided that they wanted to do further testing. They decided to measure the amniotic fluid and do a sonogram. After all the tests everything turned out to be fine and the baby is great! She has moved and is laying across my stomach. The doctors office was closed this afternoon for there holiday party so when I left I was the only patient there. I wanted to try and hurry getting out of there so that the dr. and nurse could attend the party when I realized my keys were lost. We found them but I felt so scatter brained!!!!
What a day!
