On Tuesday, March 17th at 9:40 a.m. we went to our final doctor's appointment and at that appointment Dr. Nyguen decided it was time for Madelyn to make her debut. My blood pressure had been slightly increasing each appointment and my ankle was not healing properly because of all the additional weight so she decided it was time! She arranged for us to check into the hospital on Wednesday, March 18th and for me to be induced at 6:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 19th. I remember being sad after the appointment because I wanted Madelyn to come on her own but I was also so happy to have the end in sight. Jim was a little nervous and couldn't believe after the long wait that it was all happening so quickly. Wednesday we both worked full days and we hurried home to get all last minute things done, we had a quick dinner at Subway and we checked into the hospital at 8:00 p.m. We watched American Idol as the nurse got me all hooked up and then we chatted with Brian & Melanie via webcam before we went to bed. Shortly after 11:00 p.m. I started having major pain and sometime after midnight Madelyn decided to try and come on her own and my water broke. Everything after that happened so fast.....and at some point in the middle of the night I had my epidural. I was moving along very quickly and they were predicting an early morning baby. Jim called his parents at around 2-2:30 and they started to make there way. The morning came and went and there was still no baby and by mid afternoon (2:00 p.m.) after a couple of different tests they realized Madelyn was tilted and stuck and I was going to need a c-section. After being in labor for 12-14 hours and then hearing I was going to have a c-section was a little overwhelming.
